I was treated to a special dessert to celebrate my birthday. We also shared the au gratin potatoes and sautéed spinach which we thoroughly enjoyed. My husband had the Kona crusted New York Strip which did not disappoint. My husband had the New England Clam Chowder and I had the Lobster Bisque - both were great! I had the Portobello rubbed rib eye which just melted in your mouth. We followed his advice and had the most wonderful meal! We began with the Tuna Tartare for 2 which was excellent. and extremely knowledgeable about the menu. Antonio D, our waiter, was so helpful, attentive. It was absolutely fabulous! There was a birthday card from management along with birthday glitter to decorate the table. Last Thursday night for my 71st birthday, my husband surprised me with dinner reservations at The Capital Grille. I am going to discuss this with the manager and I will let you know the outcome but a word of advice, and this may be silly to say, but check your bill, don't be so trustworthy.
I know the point of touch system they use at CG and every barstool has a number and we were not anywhere near these other guys so the bartender, that never served us, could not have mixed up the numbers. At 1st I thought it was an honest mistake but if it was an honest mistake why wasn't my 3 glasses of wine on the bill and why would another bartender who never served us or brought us any drinks put a bottle of wine on my tab. He said the other bartender charged me for the bottle of wine a couple of guys ordered down the bar. When he brought it to me to sign I looked at it and he had charged me for a bottle of wine I didn't order and left off the 3 glasses of wine I did order. When the bill came I did not check it immediately and I tossed the bartender my credit card. The only problem I had was when the bill came, now this might have been an honest mistake but it seems a little off pudding to me. it was delicious as was the Burrata appetizer. Tonight I had the special appetizer of shrimp scampi in an iron skillet and. I had the bone in ribeye Pittsburgh and they nailed it all 3 times.
I have been to CG 3 time now and all 3 times the food was spot on. The bill came out to $243 without tip and we barely ate anything! It was a horrible experience with poor service and food. Then we ordered dessers and the capuccinos were watery and we barley drank any of it nor we did we enjoy the 2 desserts. Again, the waiter came over and ddin't ask us how we liked the entrees and quickly grabbed our plates and clearly saw we didn't any of it. I ate a 1/4 of my steak, my wife barely ate her salad and my son ate most of his steak. My son's steak was undercooked and my wife's salad was dry and the lettuce was stale. My steak was flavorless and cold, I dumped salt on it but it was just not good. I ordered a $54 NY strip, my wife ordered a ceasar salad and my son had a filet mignon. We don't complain at restaurants so we just moved onto the main course. Our waiter didn't ask us how the appetizers were and quickly grabbed our plates and cleary saw that I didn't eat the shrimp. The soup was cold but my son still ate it and my shrimp was "gummy" and. We ordered appetizers - french onion soup for my son and I had shrimp cocktail. I went to Capital Grille today for a fathers day dinner with my family.
